Useful and programmable
The pedal apart from its technical specifications, it is also a useful tool with ergonomic benefits. In fact, it helps user to transfer some repetitive hand actions and functions to the foot for productivity and comfort purposes. Transferring actions from hand to the foot helps the user to balance the activity and distributes evenly the tasks and forces to muscles in order to prevent and relieve hand muscles from repetitive work. In this way hand and feet are sharing and balancing the activity helping to reduce injuries that may arise (Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI)). The ergonomic benefit offered by this pedal is to keep actions centered in front of the user at finger’s reach. The 360 pedal was designed to be an extension of the Kinesis Advantage 360. It is connected via a USB-C on the back of the keyboard and it can be set up to execute macros or any key function. The pedal has not a default assigned action. It has to be set up via the SmartSet Application on Windows and iOS or by direct editing of the layout via .txt files.
Actions, functions and applications that can be assigned to the pedal:
- Access any of the secondary layers in lieu of using the Keypad or Fn key
- Press-and-hold modifiers (e.g., Shift, Ctrl, Alt)
- Heavily used keys like Space, Tab, Enter
- Harder to reach keys like Escape or the F-keys
